Freshwater; rivers, streams and deep pools with aquatic vegetation; demersal; potamodromous (short migration); Tropical; temperature range: 22°C – 28°C; endemic to Burnett and Mary River systems in Queensland.

1.5 m in length; 40 kg and more in weight;
Feeding habits
lungfish essentially carnivorous; frogs, tadpoles, fishes, worms, mollusks, shrimps, insects and insect larvae; also plant material, benthic algae, weeds and detritus;
Reproduction
dioecism; external fertilization; August to October; egg scatterers; adhesive eggs; no parental care;

Vulnerable; protected species;
